Volunteer – Make Friends and Make a Difference
We love our volunteers. We have to since that's all we have. We hope you will join other book lovers in supporting the library with a little of your time and effort. There are many ways to contribute.
Sort Donated Materials
We have veteran teams of volunteers who sort donated materials most every day of the week. Contact us to find a good time for you.
Book sale cashiers, muscle and more
We calculate that for every volunteer hour we get, we can make $37 for the library. There are many different ways to help make it all happen once each quarter. No long term commitment required.
- Pre-sale: Setting up tables, arranging boxes of books (8–9am on Saturday & 10–11am on Sunday)
- During the sale: Cashiers, counters and reshelvers are always appreciated
- Post-sale: cleanup and party

Support Internet Sales
We sell many materials online and our team of tech-savvy volunteers reviews the condition and current prices of materials, lists the appropriate ones, fulfills incoming orders and packages them up for shipping. Computer comfort (but not expertise) is necessary for most of these activities.
Assist with Lobby Shop Sales
We have the nicest faces in our shop and we'd be happy to add yours! The Lobby shop staff finds it to be a warm and welcoming place to read or sew while attending to our customers. The shop is stocked with books, CDs, videos and DVDs as well as computer and novelty items that are enjoyed by the library patrons each week.
If you are happy to meet friendly people in the library, this might be the place for you. We ask that volunteers for the shop select a dedicated time each week that they would be available.
Ask for Donna at the shop (650-526-7049) or email us for more information.
