Materials We Cannot Accept
- Damaged, dirty, or damp materials
- Newspapers
- Magazines of any kind including National Geographic Magazine
- Catalogs, cards or other miscellany
- Large quantities of donations (more than four boxes)
If you have boxes of donations please call the Donation Room at 650-526-7031 to arrange a time for us to meet you so that you don't have to insert the books one at time in the slot. Due to limited resources, donations cannot be picked up.
Donations of gently used materials are given to the Friends of the Library and most are sold at book sales and in the Lobby Shop. The proceeds are used to support Library services and collections.
Where to Donate Materials
There is a bookdrop at the back of the library building at 585 Franklin Street (Google map) in downtown Mountain View. The driveway leading up to the bookdrop is on Mercy Street just to the left of the driveway that leads down into the underground parking garage.
Once you have dropped off the items, come to the Welcome Desk in the Library lobby if you wish to get a receipt for tax purposes.
Monetary Donations
The Friends is an all-volunteer organization, so you know your money is going directly to improving your library! Since we are a non-profit 501(c)3 public benefit corporation, your donation may be tax deductible.
Donate online now using a credit card or a PayPal account. When you click the Donate button below, your browser will open a window to a secure payment site and allow you to enter the amount of your donation. Although payments are processed by PayPal, you can just use a credit card and you do not need to set up a PayPal account.
